The Saint Gabriel College in Boechout was looking for - in anticipation of a new building that hopefully will be built in 2025 - a temporary building for secondary and primary school students. Symobo rebuilt a school from Zwolle, Netherlands, in Boechout.
Symobo was responsible for the demolition in the Netherlands, the move to Belgium and the conversion of the building. Some of the floors, roofs, columns and walls were retained. They rose on a new foundation. Walls and roofs were additionally insulated. Inside, everything has been renewed: false ceilings, doors, interior walls, electricity, ventilation, data facilities,... The result: an EPB-compliant school that students and teachers can enjoy in comfort for at least another 15 years.
“In Boechout, people were very satisfied: “As a school, we appreciated the idea of reusing materials in a sustainable way. The whole thing was also cheaper than a completely modular new building.””
